TREND ALERT: Harem Pants & Sandals This Spring

Harem pants are all over the place right now. Originating in India more than 2,000 years ago, these loose fitting pants have become a very popular item on the streets of New York City. The loose fitting fabric allows for breathabilitly on those hot days in the Concrete Jungle. This young woman wears a bright pair of pink, extremely baggy harem pants with a simple white tank top. On her feet she wears brown leather, gladiator style sandals, which go really well with the tapered bottoms of the harem pants. It is an effortless look, but looks great.

This young lady has paired her black harem pants with a sleeveless graphic tee, creating a Rock n’ Roll chic look. The black leather, fringed bag goes well with the overall color and style of the outfit, as do the black Chanel, T-strap sandals.

This woman wears her black harem pants with gold toe loop sandals. tucked into the pant waist is a sheer blue blouse with white polka dots. Around her neck the small scarf adds spring colors to the outfit.

The Latest In Headgear Accessories

This man is not only dressed in a Fred Flintstone shirt and matching tie, but also sports the latest in trends: the cat on the hat. Only in New York City.

The Spring Scarf

This is an office appropriate outfit. The black dress is simple and elegant. The pockets are a great touch, and along with the wedge sandals, add a more relaxed feel to this black dress. The black jacket with elbow length sleeves goes well with the dress, and the grey lining adds a little contrast. The turquoise scarf is the item that makes this entire outfit. It adds just enough color to stand out, without being too overpowering.

Fall Colors In The Heat Of Spring

These are not the usual early Spring colors, rather they are common Fall colors associated with the changing leaves of New England Trees. This woman wears these Fall colors proudly down Fifth Avenue on a warm Spring day. Her jacket is quite exquisite; the colorblock pattern creates an illusion of layers; while the hot pink, button up blouse creates a warming pop of color between the jackets lapels and around her wrists. The khaki pants are crisp and exude a refined character when paired with the suede peep toe pumps.

Business Up Top, Party Down Below.

Something in this outfit doesn’t fit. The cardigan, v-neck shirt and pencil skirt all say “office attire,” but the low top Converse All-Stars say “street.” The pairing, however, does not look bad, which just goes to show the versatility of a black pair of Chucks. The canary yellow cardigan stands out from the black v-neck underneath it. The cross hatching design on the pencil skirt adds a great texture to this outfit. Im not positive, but I would not be surprised if she has a dressier pair of shoes in her bag that she switched out before leaving the office.

Long Skirt, High Slit

With the rest of the outfit in black, the maxi skirt is definitely the eye-catcher here. The viscose skirt, decorated with beige and black chevron stripes is a comfortable and stylish number. The mid-thigh high slit on the right side only adds to the style and makes it a perfect skirt to wear on those hot spring days. The slit also allows for the skirt to be paired with unconventional footwear, such as these suede riding boots.

She wears the skirt with a black button down blouse that is knotted at waist level creating a soft draped line. On top of the blouse is a black leather motorcycle jacket, which goes really well with her black handbag.

Futuristic Style On Today’s Streets

This is an extremely unique outfit. The greyscale coloring is subdued, but the textures and finishes are out of this world. The chrome metallic leggings create a cyborg-like look, and are definitely eye-catching. They go well with the black platform shoes covered in an array of straps. The t-shirt dress she has on on top of the leggings has a color block hem, and only one sleeve. Over the dress is another extremely eye-catching item, a grey shag vest that is tied closed with a glittered ribbon. This extraordinary outfit certainly has a lot going on, but the matching color scheme helps to keep the combination united.

Tough & Feminine

This girl has a style that reminds me of a young Alicia Keys. The flat cap and side bun combination is a great look, and goes well with her dark eyes. The button up vest has an urban look, and the scoop neck tank underneath keeps her shoulders exposed as well as a sliver of midriff. Her boyfriend pants are tucked into a pair of high military boots and as a belt she uses a simple string, adding her own unique touch to this outfit.

Classic Rebel

I came across this guy leaning against the signpost like so. The mixture of his style and positioning was too great to pass up.
He sports a classic black leather motorcycle jacket, and pairs it with a pair of black skinny jeans. These two items alone are staples in any rebel’s wardrobe, but he adds a little extra to them. Underneath the motorcycle jacket he has a bleached jean jacket. The white color creates a nice layer of contrast between the motorcycle jacket and black graphic tee. The black skinny jeans are dressed with a cuff, revealing a pair of olive socks and brown wingtip shoes. A classic look with a touch of personal style.

Extremely Stylish Notary

There is a certain sophistication about this outfit. The red blazer is a statement piece, and would normally hog the attention, when not part of such an ensemble. The white blouse underneath the blazer is fastened closed with knot buttons, but the collar is left open. The shorts are another eye-catching piece. Their angled black and white stripes create bold lines, and the drawstring closure adds a relaxed feel. The sheer black stockings give the leg a uniform tan look and work wonders with the black stripes of the shorts and the contrast toes of the ballet flats.
