The Old Tough Guy Look

There is something about a popped collar that gives off a cool and cocky appearance. Maybe it is its affiliation with Arthur "The Fonz" Fonzarelli and James Dean, that has created that reputation, but it still sticks to this day. This man popped his collar on his blue trench, and even though he is carrying a Toys "R" Us bag, he still looks tough (and stylish). Underneath his trench peaks a pink button down shirt. His straight leg jeans are crisp and cuffed at the bottom, leaving them to fall perfectly onto his brown leather shoes.

Red The Color Of Desire, Black The Color Of Despair

Red and black are two colors that mean completely different things.  Red is associated with love and passion.  Black is associated with death and darkness.  Yet, when the two colors are put together in one outfit, they compliment each other phenomenally.

This young lady used black items to bolster her bright red dress. The black leggings give a strong contrast to the lower half of the dress, whereas the black motorcycle jacket helps to narrow and emphasize the top of the dress. The orange handbag is a great addition of a bright color, but does not take away from the red dress.

Here, this girl flipped the outfit around and used red as an accent. Her black boots, skirt and overcoat are fine for the rainy day it was, but to add some life to her outfit, she added red leggings. They play really well, creating a strong accent, and breaking up an all black outfit. A definite eye-catcher.

Waiting On The World To Change

I found this woman sitting on the steps of St. Thomas Church. She looked as though she was waiting for someone, with a sense of longing in her face. The mix between the emotion and the fashion statement she was making, made her the perfect subject. Her fur trimmed coat definitely added some flare to her look. Her python print handbag, cuddled in her lap, is a great statement piece for this dark colored outfit.

Great Neutral Outfit

Another great outfit on Fifth Avenue, but where do I start. I guess at the bottom with those awesome moccasin boots. The brown leather is adorned with contrasting stitching and Native American designs. They go really well with the grey leggings, which have belt loops and zipper pockets.

The tan leather jacket and undershirt are a nice neutral shade, yet stand out with their yellow tint. The faux fur scarf is a really nice piece and goes well with the grey leggings.

This jacket is really something special. I like the perforated shoulders, and the pinstripe lining on the inside of the hood.

The Sweater Dress’s Casual Cousin

Nothing says casual like a crew neck sweatshirt. Turning it into a dress, however, gives it a new take on life, while remaining extremely comfortable and easy to wear. The burgundy skinny jeans give a great pop of color to the grey sweatshirt, and the boots are just incredible. The black booties with gold embellishments are unique and reminiscent of something out of the Wild West. The waist length black motorcycle jacket creates that much desired layered look for the outfit.

Smooth As Velvet

Do you want a blazer that not only looks good, but makes people want to rub their face against your shoulder? Of course you do. The Velvet blazer is just the thing for you. It has a beautiful sheen, and is soft to the touch. It is a nice unconventional piece that can be worn formal or casual.

Sirens Blare Outside Versace

After a long day at work, I grabbed my camera and began walking the streets. After walking for a while, I ended up outside of the Versace Flagship store on Fifth Avenue. There was a police car, with its sirens on, pulled over outside the store, creating great light. This young woman walked up and I knew something good was going to happen. First her red overcoat caught my eye, and then as I looked closer I saw her maroon button down underneath. Her black leather shorts were the last thing I noticed, but were the biggest statement piece for me, worn over black leggings. The black bow tie adorned ballet flats were a nice way to complete the look. The dim daylight and the addition of the red siren light gives the pictures a great feel.

Elegant & Enjoyable Ensemble

A simple, yet superb outfit. The bootcut jeans are very well tailored. They have a little edge of playfulness, but sophisticated none the less. The female power jean. The black boots as well as the form fitting black blazer add to the formality of the outfit. The scarf, worn like an ascot, helps to conceal the floral print blouse underneath it, but it shows through below the blazer. The little pop of flowers and color makes this an elegant and enjoyable ensemble.

I really like the silver chandelier earrings as well.

Submerge Yourself In Comfort

Everyone just wants to stay wrapped up in their bed on a cold grey day. When living in New York City, you have so many ways to take advantage of a rainy day, staying in bed is a last resort. This young woman rolled out of bed, pulled together a comfortable outfit, and headed to her local beauty salon for a pedicure. Her long white tee and camouflage leggings scream comfort, but when paired with a black leather motorcycle jacket they gain a stylish appeal. The oversized scarf takes the place of the blanket when it comes to keeping you warm and cozy. Don't forget to take your flip flops with you when going for a pedicure, to let your nails dry on the walk back.

I really like her short cut, bleached blonde hair, as well as her nose ring, quite punk chic. The blue sweater cuffs on her jacket are also a nice touch.

Casual & Scruffy

This young man walks the SoHo streets casually. He has a simple outfit that works very well for the downtown scene. His straight leg jeans, with a few rips, are cuffed, showing off his black military boots. A simple white, scoop neck t-shirt is a crisp, yet casual item. The faded brown cardigan helps continue the laid-back motif, and helps to keep him warm. The straw trilby hat is a nice finishing touch.
