A Colorful Sight For Sore Eyes

Grey skies covered New York City today.  With intermittent rain showers and cold winds blowing throughout the day, New Yorkers bundled back up in their winter wear.  Walking through Midtown was depressing, not just because it was a cold, rainy, Monday, but because of the lack of color.  Where is it written that when it rains you can’t wear color?  The masses moved together, like a flood of black down Fifth Avenue, which made this young lady stand out as a sight for sore eyes.

Her bright orange coat and royal blue color give a grey day a little color.

Simple & Silhouette Friendly

this woman's outfit is made up of simple items, but together they make a superb ensemble. The belted trench thins the waist, and the skinny jeans and high heeled booties add some length and toning to the legs. This outfit is definitely a friend to your silhouette.

The contrast cuffs on her trench are a nice touch. The bangs and ponytail add a face softening and multifaceted appearance that can look as good in the office or on the dance floor. The tortoise shell glasses accentuate the eyes, as well as the hair style. Her blue bag is tied into the outfit by the blue speckles on her scarf and the blue bangle on her wrist.

TREND ALERT: Sheer Tops Are Here!

The growing trend of sheer clothing was started in Hollywood with celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Paris Hilton, Kate Moss and most recently Rihanna exposing themselves in front of the paparazzi.  The shock and awe caused news of these events to jet across the world.  Though, unlike these exposed celebrities, the women of New York City seem to be courteous (or bashful) enough to keep themselves covered under their sheer tops.

A simple black bra keeps you covered, even while exposing yourself in a sheer shirt.

This woman shows that there is no age limit for sheer tops. The white polka dots and pearl necklace are a nice touch.

This tall brunette wears a pair of black military boots, black shorts, and a sheer top. The front's black and white design helps to hide her shame, but the back...

...doesn't hide a thing.

This lady in Bryant Park has great style. Her sweater, sheer blouse and spaghetti string tank all match, creating a subtle layered look. Her Tory Burch shoes are pretty great as well.

Let's not forget her Louis Vuitton handbag.

This young woman wins the prize for the best sheer top. A black and white, sleeveless, sheer bowling shirt. I really like the pockets, and how they match the spaghetti strap tank she has underneath.

The purple nail polish adds just a touch of color to the ensemble.

Orange You Glad You Wore That Blazer?

A great color scheme always makes a nice outfit even better. This young blonde dons a bright orange, waist length blazer on top of a pink and white striped shirt. The lining of the blazer is pink and shown by the rolled up cuffs. The neutral khaki pants unsuccessfully try to ground the orange, but do match the handbag and thong sandals.

Fro-nomenal Outfit!

This woman truly stands out from the crowd. One would think that so many patterns in one outfit would clash, but she pulls it off well. Her red maxi dress is adorned with a yellow and purple floral print. Her ankle boots are covered in python print, and her handbag covered in Navajo symbols. The black blazer helps to keep the patterns separated and in harmony.

Her giant gold hoop earrings go well with the gold cuff on her left wrist. The bold red lipstick and strong blush help to accentuate her strong facial features.

The dirty blonde afro is quite a throwback. Anyone who has the confidence to wear this hairstyle today, definitely wins my respect and kudos.

TREND ALERT: The Maxi Skirt Shows Off Its Versatility This Spring.

Ever since the 1920’s, the long skirt has had a rough road.  Competing against the shorter, more revealing styles, the maxi skirt almost went extinct many times, but has pulled itself back from the brink.  Today, the maxi skirt is coming back in many forms.  These long skirts are great for all seasons, but are taking Spring by storm.

Here, this young woman is wearing a black maxi skirt that all but covers her brown cowboy boots. With the frigid winter air still in the area, she paired her maxi skirt with a tan leather jacket and a grey linen scarf. Her bright yellow animal print bag plays well against the black of the skirt, giving a big pop of color.

On another chilly day, this woman wore her grey, jersey maxi skirt with grey leggings and ivory Converse All-Stars. On top she wore a belted olive drab field jacket and a black beanie covering her box braids. A very casual, yet hip outfit for walking around New York City.

This young woman sports a very comfortable looking, jersey maxi skirt, with horizontal stripes. Her black Birkenstock clogs cohere to the black stripes of the skirt. The orange tee, keeps with the comfortable motif and also adds a nice touch of color.

This young lady walking her dog in Central Park, knows how to dress for a scorcher. An airy, black chiffon maxi skirt and thong slippers are a great pair when fighting off the heat. When united with a loose semi-sheer jersey tank, the ensemble reflects that of a Bohemian artist. The beaded choker, floral headband and messy bun only add to the affect. A great outfit for any hot day in New York City, or pretty much anywhere for that matter.

This buxom brunette looks as though she just walked out of the Riviera. Her flowing, tiered, white linen maxi skirt, is something straight out of the Mediterranean Region. Her bright red, spaghetti strap tank accentuates her bosom and the belt creates a narrower and higher looking waist. The man watch is also a nice touch.

Bright Colors, Not Needed

I found this girl waiting to cross a Midtown street. The numerous layers of earth tone colors really caught my eye. Her pleated skirt comes directly from an ancient cave, with its color scheme and its pictograph prints. Her engineer boots, laced up tight, give a great compliment, both to her skin tone and her skirts colors.

Her low cut, charcoal undershirt helps to show off her well defined collar bone, and helps to make this outfit easy to wear in the heat of Summer. The olive drab, linen button down is left unbuttoned, but knotted at the bottom for a waist defining look. Her silver cuff is a very stylish piece, which will work well with many different outfits.

Keeping It Covered: Deep V & Cami

This young lady, in Central Park, has a great sense of style. She paired a pair of short black shorts, with light brown ankle boots. On top she belted a beige, deep V blouse, using a wide black belt, over a black camisole.

Her black motorcycle jacket ties in with the camisole and shorts, and matches the messenger bag she is carrying on her shoulder. The gold zipper and buttons on the jacket also match the chain strap on her bag.

Look At These Two Love Birds

Spring is the time of year when animals start coupling up. They take their chances and hope to find the right partner. This Mallard male is protective of his mate, standing guard for his female partner as they take in the sun on the Central Park lawn.

Another couple never leaves each other's side, while searching for food in the New York Botanical Gardens.
