Hipster Formal

This is an interesting and contemporary take on business casual dress. This individual wears a pair of capri length slacks, with a blue and pink plaid pattern, worn above a pair of leather loafers. Tucked into the slacks is a bright orange, collarless, button down shirt, worn underneath a tan sport coat. This individual also opts for a pair of horn rimmed sunglasses and a navy trilby hat with a red and white band around it.

The Formal Artist

This man looks great and carefree. He has an artsy vibe about him, especially with the long, flowing hair and beard. He wears straight leg black jeans that are tucked into the tops of his untied Converse high tops. His white linen henley goes very well with the artsy vibe, and is a great item to wear on a hot Spring or Summer day. He keeps the shirt unbuttoned, showing off his rope necklace and chest hair. To dress the outfit up he added a black blazer, which plays well with both the black jeans and white shirt.

Three Fashionable Friends

I spotted this group of fashionable friends near Lafayette St. While I don’t know what they were talking about, their interactions seemed fun and heartfelt. They each have their own style, and it was a great treat to capture three great subjects walking side-by-side.

The guy on the right (your right) has a very casual look about him; very care free.  He wears a denim cutoff shirt, showing off his toned arms. His rust colored jeans are worn off his waist, causing them to bunch up atop the beige shoes, which remain untied.
The young lady in the center of the group has a flirty look. Her black shorts and tank have a fun look to them, which is perfect for Spring. The red blazer adds a great bold color to the outfit, and also dresses it up. A great Spring outfit for a lunch date.

The girl on the left has a very versatile outfit. This outfit can be worn to just about any type of setting, short of formal. The semi-sheer white blouse is sleeveless, allowing for comfort in the hot sun. The blouse is knotted at the waist where leaving the pleated waist of the pants visible. The wide leg is very airy and relaxed when paired with a weaved sandal. To make this outfit more formal, simply add a blazer on top.

Mark Twain Doppelganger

This post is not as much about fashion as it is about character. While I do really like the white ruffled shirt, bow tie and cumber bun combination, it is this man’s character and style that dominate the images. He looks like a writer, which could be the reason why I associated him with Mark Twain or maybe just because he looks like him. His worn leather bag looks like it could be holding a manuscript for the next great American novel.  I do also like how the the beige jacket (occupy button on lapel, and all) stands away from the white shirt creating a little contrast in the outfit.

The Urban Surfer

There are so many styles out on the streets of New York, this is just one of them: the “Urban Surfer.” This young man sports a coastal look with DC high tops, black skinny jeans, a turquoise Volcom tank, a messanger bag and large quare framed sunglasses. The high and tight haircut is a little contradictory to the outfit, but does not look half bad.

The Latest In Headgear Accessories

This man is not only dressed in a Fred Flintstone shirt and matching tie, but also sports the latest in trends: the cat on the hat. Only in New York City.

Classic Rebel

I came across this guy leaning against the signpost like so. The mixture of his style and positioning was too great to pass up.
He sports a classic black leather motorcycle jacket, and pairs it with a pair of black skinny jeans. These two items alone are staples in any rebel’s wardrobe, but he adds a little extra to them. Underneath the motorcycle jacket he has a bleached jean jacket. The white color creates a nice layer of contrast between the motorcycle jacket and black graphic tee. The black skinny jeans are dressed with a cuff, revealing a pair of olive socks and brown wingtip shoes. A classic look with a touch of personal style.

Double V

This is a nice casual look. The deep v cardigan is a great item, with both color and pattern. The black v neck tee goes perfectly with the sweater, transitioning from one collar to the next. The flat cap is a nice accessory, adding some more style to the outfit.

Fifth Avenue Punk

This man has a very unique personal style, and his clothes are only part of it. His black skinny jeans are bloused over the top of his black military boots. The grey overcoat is adorned with medals on his left chest, and a black trim. Underneath it he wears a black leather satchel, which looks worn by use. The only color on the outfit comes from the yellow stripes on the predominately grey cardigan, underneath which is a black graphic tee. His hairstyle is quite interesting and makes him look like a mixture of two remarkable Gary Oldman characters, Sid Vicious and Jean-Baptiste Zorg.

Slim Fit Business Casual

A simple business casual outfit done well. This man strays from the simple black slacks or khakis and opts for a red pair of slim fit jeans. The black suede shoes are a nice compliment, which helps to ground the jean’s bold color, while the orange belt adds a nice accent to an already colorful pair of pants. The fitted, blue striped dress shirt continues the form fitted look and goes well with both the pants and the colorful paisley tie running down its center.
