Beach Cruisin’ The NYC Streets

For those who could withstand the heat, today was a beautiful day to be outside. This young woman stops to check her phone, while hitting the streets on her baby blue beach cruiser. She has knotted her colorful, floral, maxi skirt at knee-length to allow for comfortable pedaling. Her sandals are not only airy and stylish, but match the colors of her skirt, creating a unified look. The sleeveless white shirt, with a faint stripe pattern, has extra large armholes, allowing air to circulate throughout the garment, helping to keep her cool on this scorching summer day.

Formal Athletic Wear

Today is the official start of Summer. Meteorologists have pegged this Summer Solstice as the hottest day of the year so far. While dressing to combat this scorcher you should show as much skin as is appropriate for your environment. As this man shows, you do not need to stick to the norm, and can invent an outfit that is both weather appropriate and stylish. His short, dress shorts and vest are not something you see paired with athletic socks and shoes, but allow him to remain comfortable in this extreme heat.

Fashion Forward Business Woman

This young woman has a new, fashion forward take on business casual dress. She incorporates a colorblocking scheme using muted colors to help maintain unity within the outfit. Her forest green, ankle length pants are cuffed above a pair of nude, high-heeled sandals. Her sheer mauve, button down blouse is embellished by a faint, yet detailed, python print, over which is a navy blazer with puff shoulders. She has pushed up the blazer’s sleeves to her elbow, allowing the blouse sleeves to show through the forearm. The wooden necklace adds a bit of unconventional design to the outfit, yet matches her sandals perfectly.

Irv Da Phenom In NYC

Straight out of Kansas City, Kansas, this gentleman is no stranger to rockin’ his own style. Going by the name Irv Da Phenom, this rapper has graced stages around the world representing his own label Def Metal Gospel (DMG).
I caught him on the streets in SoHo, after an interview with MTV, sporting a pair of grey jeans bloused over the top of unbuckled tanker boots. Over his white Irv Da Phenom shirt, he rocked a cut off sleeve jean vest and a fringed scarf around his neck. He had on a pair of futuristic, white shades to top off the look.

Summer Style Cowl Neck

This young lady must really love Diane Von Furstenberg; her dress and bag both come from the designer. The blue Rachel Print Dress has a low swooping cowl neck and a bold pairing of colors. The neutral coloring of the python Sporty Drew Tote helps it to stand out against the colors of the dress, while the hot pink shoulder strap accentuates the red pattern. The gold wedge sandals are a simple accent, perfect for the upcoming summer months.

Comfort, Meet Style

This young woman is enjoying the day with a little shopping on New York’s Fifth Avenue. Her stressed skinny jeans are rolled up above the ankle, leaving a sliver of skin between them and the blue Isabel Marant sneakers. Her beige sweatshirt is decorated with sections of open knits, separated by a solid strip across the bust. This is certainly a great look, remaining stylish, while dressing in comfort.

You usually don’t see anyone wearing two jean jackets in the late Spring, but this guy pulls it off. The white collar is flared over the red Opening Ceremony jean jacket. The rolled up striped denim sleeves help to show off the big gold watch dangling around his left wrist. His blue, white and grey striped shirt hangs down below the bottom of the jean jackets, creating a patterned waistline. The black skinny jeans are worn over the top of white high-top Comme des Garcons sneakers. The black pork pie hat provides a unique way to top off this outfit.

SoHo Siren

This is another simple color scheme that works so well. The black maxi skirt, with white polka dots and thigh-high slit, looks very chic when paired with those grey ankle booties. The black, spaghetti strap tank, goes great with the skirt and the beaded necklace traces the scoop neckline perfectly. The charcoal fedora has its brim rolled up, making sure everyone can see her striking lip color.

Simple Contrast

The black dress is a staple in every woman’s closet. This young lady has paired her’s with a crisp, white blazer. The contrast between the two pieces creates nice swooping lines, and a depth to the outfit. The large necklace, combines both colors, bring the whole outfit together.
